Baby Shower Favours

Baby showers are a great way to celebrate new mothers – or both parents – and their expectant first baby. Perhaps you’re having a Baby Sprinkle – celebrating babies, mums, and dads where there might be a bit of a gap between siblings. Once upon a time, it was customary for a close female friend of the expectant mother to throw the shower. Times have changed however with some mothers hosting their own shower, or having a co-ed shower.

The sky is the limit when it comes to how you celebrate the pending arrival of your little one. Colour themes, sporting team themes, Baby-Q, more themes than you can poke a stick at. Games, food, who to invite…so how do yo know what’s right for you? Pinterest is a great resource for planning ideas from themes and décor, games, cakes, and gifts. If you’re not planning your shower yourself, make sure you talk to the person/people who is/are. Tell them what you do and don’t like, if you envisage a certain look, and of course, what foods you’d like served! Below you’ll find two baby showers that can be easily adapted for either gender or even a gender neutral shower.

Pink and Gold

Expecting a little girl? Pink and gold is a very popular theme, perfect to celebrate the pending arrival of your little princess, just like Liz (Sydney, NSW) did. Bringing together modern and vintage, Liz’s baby shower was elegant, bright, and fun.

I love how there’s a hint of gold in everything. Did you see the gold in the gorgeous floral three tiered stands? The small details always catch my eye.

Want to adapt it for a boy? Blue and silver would work just as well, and instead of florals, geometric patterns.

Vintage Afternoon Tea

When Casey (Brisbane, QLD) found out she was expecting a little girl, she knew she wanted a vintage afternoon tea filled with pinks and florals. I think her mum and sisters hit the nail on the head, do you?

I adore the Peter Rabbit table runner, and just love all the handmade touches – the labels on the thank you jars, the cards at the place settings…just beautiful! Want to have a vintage afternoon tea but you’re having a boy? Swap the pinks for blues or greens, or a neutral palette such as whites and greys would work for any gender.

We had a Baby Q Shower in May 2016, but we have no pictures! We were too busy running around to take any. We went with a colour theme to match the nursery – it meant that decor could be used at both, saving us time and money. Did you have a baby shower? Are you planning one for a friend, family member, or even yourself? I’d love to hear all about it, so let me know in the comments!
